A lot of important alerts (some of them profusely announced on this blog) for today, September 16.

The Jane Eyre special screening at the British Film Institute:
We are pleased to welcome the following guests to this preview to participate in a Q&A session after the screening hosted by Matthew Sweet: Ruth Wilson (actress - Jane Eyre); Susanna White (director); Sandy Welch (adaptation); Diederick Santer (producer).
And today is also a very special day in the Radical Brontës Festival in Bradford. First, we have the presentation of Wuthering Heights. The Graphical Novel (Siku and Adam Strickson) specially commissioned for the festival.
Book Launch
11am > Saturday 16 September
Waterstones
The Wool Exchange, Hustlergate
Bradford BD1 1BL
The book will be available to buy at all Radical
Brontës events.
Today is also the opening of the Brontëan Abstracts Exhibition by Cornelia Parker at the Brontë Parsonage Museum. We quote here from the Brontë Parsonage Blog:
Running with this theme, Cornelia’s exhibition, which is on from 16 September to 31 December 2006, will be displayed throughout the rooms of the house alongside original artefacts to encourage new ways of looking at the museum’s collection and at contemporary art. It aims to celebrate the connections between creativity, past and present, and to reflect the ways in which the Brontës’ lives and works have continued to inspire writers and artists across three centuries.

Cornelia worked with the Parsonage throughout 2005/06, the results of which are a collection of stunning exhibition pieces which include twenty five works based on items from the museum's collection. These include scanned and electron microscopic images of Brontë artefacts, including images of Anne Brontë’s hair and Charlotte Brontë’s feather pen. Also on display will be images of amendments to the original manuscripts of Jane Eyre, held in the British Library.
In addition there are sound installations in certain rooms which document a visit made by two psychics to the Parsonage, and a video recording of Brontë Society member Phyllis Cheney who claims descent from Branwell Brontë.
But there is more:

Today is also the opening of the Moving Stories Artist Residency Radical Brontës Project:
Exhibition of new work runs 16 - 30 September at South Square, Bronte Birthplace and Parsonage (South Square Community Gallery open daily 12 - 3pm, except Mondays)

Description:
Artists Morwenna Catt and Duncan Burnett explore fresh and new perspectives on notions of translocation and the Bronte Family.

As part of their residency the artists are running creative workshops with local year 6 primary school children based around the Moving Stories theme of the family move from Thornton to Haworth.
The project aims to link time, place, people and venues through the creation of a stimulating series of new work by these intriguingly playful and experimental artists. The work will be on show throughout September at all three venues.
