The Brontë Parsonage website publishes more information about Cornelia Parker's exhibition: Brontëan Abstracts, that we presented some time ago:

From September 16 - Brontëan Abstracts - Cornelia Parker In 2005 the Brontë Parsonage Museum commissioned contemporary British artist, Cornelia Parker, to produce new work in response to the museum and its collection. The exhibition, Brontëan Abstracts, is the result.

The parsonage is famous throughout the world as the Brontës’ home and the place where great novels such as Jane Eyre and Wuthering Heights were written. The house is now displayed as a ‘period home’, with the Brontës’ furniture, domestic objects, artworks and personal belongings set out to give an impression of the house in their own time.

Cornelia Parker’s Brontëan Abstracts are displayed throughout the historic rooms of the house alongside these original artefacts to encourage new ways of looking at the museum’s collection and at contemporary art, to celebrate the connections between creativity, past and present, and reflect the way in which the Brontës lives and works have continued to inspire writers and artists across three centuries.

Twenty five works appear in Brontëan Abstracts. These include scanned and electron microscope images of items from the museum’s collection and images of amendments to Charlotte Brontë’s manuscript of Jane Eyre, held in the British Library. In addition there are sound installations in certain rooms which document a visit made by two psychics to the parsonage, and a video recording of Phyllis Cheney who claims descent from Branwell Brontë.
