Remember George the footman played by Ned Irish? Mr Irish, a Scarborough man,
talks to a local paper about his work in the new BBC production of Jane Eyre.
"When Jane arrives at Thornfield Hall, set at Haddon Hall in Derbyshire, it is night time and it has been raining. She is very uncertain and a little afraid. I let her in through the portcullis door and take her in." Mr Irish, who started his acting career as an extra in Heartbeat, was full of praise for Jane Eyre's director, Susanna White.
He said: "She was absolutely fabulous.Everything is about detail. Nothing is too much trouble and the best thing aboutit is that she will talk to you one to one and you can make suggestions.
"It was a real eye-opener and because of that everybody felt good about it and good about themselves, and this made for a very, very happy atmosphere."
Now you know to watch out for him :)
And of course it being a Scarborough newspaper...
The original novel was written by Charlotte Bronte, sister to Anne Bronte, who is buried at St Mary's Church in Scarborough.
Anne Bronte, a poet and author of Agnes Grey and the Tenant Of Wildfell Hall, died in a lodging house overlooking the South Bay on the site of the Grand Hotel.
