Bookslut interviews Marisha Pessl about her first novel - Special Topics in Calamity Physics (as we anticipated some days ago). When asked about her Western influences she reveals herself as a Brontëite:

I grew up in a very bookish family. My mother was always reading aloud to my sister and I -- I started out reading the Chronicles of Narnia, Misty of Chincoteague, even Nancy Drew -- and eventually it was the Victorian and Gothic romances, Jane Eyre, Dickens -- if you grow up reading stuff like that, that’s what you crave as an adult.

Meanwhile, icCheshire reminds us that Lipservice are on tour with their well-loved show Withering Looks.

When Maggie and Sue clocked the series of events marking the anniversary of Charlotte Brontë's death in 1855, they could hardly turn down the opportunity to go Brontë bonkers again. So they've dusted off their crinolines and pressed their pantaloons for another bout of literary lunacy.
Withering Looks takes an 'authentic' look at the lives and works of the Brontë sisters - well, two of them anyway, Anne's just popped out for a cup of sugar. But, to compensate, there are more mysterious neighbours and tormented souls, maniacal laughter and, of course, the famous love triangle between Cathy, Heathcliff and David Niven.

And finally, Brontëana posts a clip from an interview with Toby Stephens where you can see a short scene of the new Jane Eyre. Don't forget that if you're in London or England you can win a pair of tickets to see the first two episodes of the series at the BFI!
