Special TV Preview: Jane Eyre
Sat 16 Sept 5.50 NFT1
Charlotte Bronte's novel, with its shy heroine, dark and mysterious hero, remote house, awful secret, madness and betrayal, has fascinated ever since its publication, spawning many film and TV adaptations. This new version has excellent credentials: adapted by Sandy Welch (North and South, Our Mutual Friend) and directed by Susanna White (Love Again, Bleak House), the production was shot entirely on location in Derbyshire. The strong cast features newcomer Ruth Wilson as Jane Eyre and Toby Stephens as Rochester.
We shall be screening the first two hour-long parts (of four) of this new BBC version. The screening will be followed by an onstage Q&A with key members of the cast and production team.
BBC 2006 Dir Susanna White With Francesca Annis, Pam Ferris, Tara Fitzgerald, Georgie Henley
