Rock music and Jane Eyre

We read this:

One time he [an English literature professor] played a Rolling Stones song during a lecture because he claimed it had enormous relevance to what we were doing, although he never did manage to adequately explain the connection between rock music and Jane Eyre.

Are you sure he got confused and in fact he wanted to play some song by Jane Eyre the rock band? Or it could have been Wuthering Heights or Agnes Grey.

Rock music and the Brontës - would would have said they would become flesh and bone? :P
