Chester Music has recently published some compositions by Brian Elias, inspired by the poetry of Emily Brontë:
14 minutes
Solo voices and 1-6 players
These four poems are typical of Emily Brontë’s verse, which for me is always coloured by a touch of sadness and expresses a vast, intimate, and interior world, rich with dreams and imagery drawn from nature. I have wanted to set some of her verse for many years, and have finally found a sonority that I believe evokes so
mething of her sublime character, that of a low voice (mezzo soprano, alto or counter tenor) accompanied by viola.
Recently the piece was premiered at the Leicester International Music Festival:
17th September 2022
