The Guardian interviews the writer Alice Hoffman:
It’s clear that you wanted to get into the mindset of what it was like to be a woman in the 1800s.
I really did. When I first read Wuthering Heights I didn’t understand why Cathy couldn’t marry the person she loved. I didn’t understand the property laws, and the constraints on women. Even though laws have changed we still have so many social constraints and so many rules that we set for ourselves and that society sets for us. It’s very difficult still to be a woman. (Anita Sethi)
Cyprus Mail tells the story of a young man's battle against depression and anxiety:
None of this helped me in the initial battle with the illness. Sylvia Plath knew what she was talking about when she wrote her poem “Wuthering Heights”, in response to touring the Yorkshire moors that inspired the Brontë novel. She saw “the grass beating its head distractedly”. She was the grass. I became like the grass, at first just mentally, then literally.
ABC Radio (Australia) talks with the author Stephanie Bishop:
Australian writer Stephanie Bishop's writing has been compared to Emily Brontë and Virginia Woolf.
Her books are evocative and timeless stories of migration, loss and the challenges of being a parent.
We couldn't agree more with Le Journal de Montréal:
(Jean Barbe) (Translation)
Cultura Colectiva and female writers who published as men:
The Brontë Sisters
(Emilio Reyes) (Translation)
