Imelda and David Marsden, active members of the Brontë Society, have alerted us of this interesting event:
This year 2010, in May, Brontë descendants of William Brontë and the Hallileys of Dewsbury are to visit Dewsbury, North Kirklees and Haworth travelling from Melbourne, Australia, starting their visit in Cornwall. The late John Nussey, an Ellen Nussey descendant, researched their family tree and the family travelled from Australia and stayed with John in Cheshire in the early 1980s.

It's an interesting family tree, as they are descendants of Rev John Buckworth's wife Rachel (Patrick Brontë was curate to Rev Buckworth of All Saints church, Dewsbury, now Dewsbury Minster), family of the Halliley mill family of Dewsbury and Patrick Brontë's brother William's family.

In a book printed in 1836, Memories of Rev John Buckworth MA, about Rev John Buckworth's diary, he mentions a new curate starting at the All Saints church in December 1809 but did not put Patrick Brontë's name in, for the Brontë family became well-known in later years.

If anyone is interested in meeting the family, let us know - they hay a very interesting family history of the area. Contact 01924 519370.. or E-Mail david.marsden9117@ntlworld.com
