Charlotte applied an orphan' s story to reflect British women's miserable situation, and also express their strong desires, which they wanted to break away from men's oppression and sex discrimination. This paper, from what Jane Eyre experienced and what she thought about the happenings, analyses Jane Eyre' s rebellious personality, including at her aunt's family, at Lowood School, her love with Rochester and leaving Thornfield.

Jane Eyre, Charlotte Bronte's masterpiece, tells the story of an orphan girl. Jane Eyre is a young woman with a fierce longing for love, understanding and a happy life. She strives for self-realization and equality. However, tradition is also found in Jane Eyre, she still remains conservative in many aspects. With the hope of revealing women's dilemma in the society, this paper aims at exploring contractions in Jane Eyre.
