1. The programme
Poetry Please on BBC Radio 4 will include a reading of a poem by Emily Brontë:

In the first programme Lia Williams will be reading a great variety of poems as well as two of her own favourites, by the late Harold Pinter. There will also be recordings of Michael Williams reading Cecil Day Lewis' The Album, and Matt Harvey reading one of his own poems.

Let's Talk About It 2009 will feature five meetings to discuss "Mad Women in the Attic" a literary series offered by the Friends of the Person County Library and paid for through a grant from the NC Humanities Council. Meetings will be held Jan. 11, Jan. 25, Feb. 8, Feb. 22 and March 8. Books to be discussed are Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte, Wide Sargasso Sea by Jean Rhys, The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gillman, Surfacing by Margaret Atwood and Sula by Toni Morrison. Scholars from NC universities will speak on the books and lead group discussions. The books are free and are available at the library.
