A new edition of Jane Eyre has appeared, published by White's Books.
Jane Eyre
Charlotte Brontë
ISBN: 9780955881800
Format: Hardback
Publisher: White's Books Ltd

This beautiful edition of "Jane Eyre" is part of a series of the best-loved classics in fine volumes, with colourful cloth bindings, and produced to the highest standards, for under GBP20: providing affordable luxury. Instead of a dust jacket, the decorated cloth covers have a printed illustration wrapping around the book. Coloured page tops, decorated endpapers, meticulous line-by-line typesetting and thicker acid free paper are among the elements that differ from standard hardbacks, to give these editions extra appeal by embodying the crafted virtues of a good book. The result is quality of design and production that adds to the pleasure of reading. For anyone interested in a fine edition of a favourite work, this is an attractive volume for the bookshelf or an authentic and distinctive present.
According to the Creative Review Blog:
White’s Books, ex-Penguin designer David Pearson’s new venture, hopes to reaffirm traditional methods of book production. The first four offerings from the publishing house are out this month, sporting covers by illustrators Petra Börner, Joe McLaren, Stanley Donwood (above) and Pearson himself…

The selection will no doubt be on a few Christmas lists this winter, thanks in no small part to Pearson’s art direction on the project he founded with publisher, Jon Jackson. We talked to Pearson about their work to date and his first illustration commissions.

Creative Review: Can you tell us why you set up White’s Books?
David Pearson: Working on the premise that the ‘classics’ are usually the books that are treasured most, we’re aiming to create a package that stands a chance of ageing as gracefully as the writing within. Owing to the arrival of eBooks, many have prophesied the death of the printed word but we see this simply as an opportunity to turn the spotlight back on the traditional methods and to luxuriate in the craft and tactility of the physical book and the printed page. The cover is designed by Petra Börner.

The Bookseller announces that one of the next publications of White's Books will be Wuthering Heights:
The books retail for £17.95–£19.95, which White's highlighted as "priced well below traditional fine editions", describing the range as "affordable luxury".
Existing titles, which started going into shops last week, include Jane Eyre and Treasure Island. The new titles are Great Expectations, Alice in Wonderland, Frankenstein, Wuthering Heights and Classic Fairytales.

    gracias

    que decir¿?
