S2 E1: With... Jenny Mitchell

Welcome back to Behind the Glass with this early-release first episode of
series 2 !
Sam and new co-host Connie talk to prize-winning poet Jenny Mitchell...
"When his first-born was put into his arms . . . he again, with a full heart, acknowledged that God had tempered judgment with mercy." Charlotte Bronte, "Jane Eyre." Composer Lewis A. Kocher presents images from his collection of antique photographs, and his piece, "Jane's Lullaby"; a song Jane herself could have sung to her and Edward's children.
EDIT: From the composer himself:
"Jane Eyre" has always been my favorite novel and it has inspired more than one of my musical works. In fact my publisher, ALRY Publications, Inc. has published my flute ensemble work, "Aire," which is inspired by Jane Eyre. The title itself is a wordplay on her name. This Fall I will be recording a flute ensemble playing it, and it should be ready for YouTube before the end of Autumn. In the meantime if there are any flute choirs interested in performing the work, it may be purchased either directly from the publisher (www.alrypublications.com) or through online music stores like Sheetmusicplus.
MissionVerdopolitian reads aloud a letter from Patrick Brontë to Elizabeth Gaskell from June 20th, 1855:
The Reverend Patrick Brontë pens an informative letter to, Mrs. Gaskell, the first biographer of his world-famous writer daughter the peerless prose-stylist Charlotte.
Work in Progress Interactive Fiction PC game for Windows called Emily's Dream. A must for any fan of Wuthering Heights and the Brontes. Help Emily Bronte inside her Dream. Unravel the mysterious of the wild and untamed moors. The game has full motion video clips of the Bronte countryside.
Hello from composer Lewis A. Kocher! There is another work on YouTube based on Jane Eyre; it is my composition "Aire", a play on words for the name "Eyre". I wrote it with Jane and Helen Burns in mind; they are sitting together at Lowood, each talking to the other about their thoughts. Here it is as performed by the Roeselare Flute Ensemble, Belgium: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cl2VSoLUpko

ReplyDeleteThanks. Now it works again.
