Via Western Morning News and The Homeground + Kate Bush News & Info Forum we have discovered a guitar jazz cover of Kate Bush's Wuthering Heights. A very good and classy version which was originally included in the 2004 album, Dr. Quantum Leaps:
Deirdre Cartwright Group
Imaginative guitarist and composer, who became well known by presenting the BBCs ground breaking series Rockschool (the original!). "If there is a more complete guitarist in contemporary music than Deirdre Cartwright I'd like to know who it is." said Dave Gelly in The Observer April 2008 and John Fordham noted ‘Cartwright’s cooly undulating Grant Green shuffle groove is one of the understated pleasures of UK's contemporary fusion’. Her live set can include 70s fusion and funk to Kate Bush covers as well as straight ahead jazz. It led Stewart Lee to describe her group in Sunday Times thus ‘Her sinewy guitar fronts a sparse trio - with beatnik spoken-word injections from Sarah P - who stretch out like a psychedelic 1960s blues band, but take the blind leaps of faith of improvisers. Highlights are the Nirvana grunge-fusion Smells Like Jazz and a sublime exploration of Kate Bush’s Wuthering Heights.’
Listen to a live version of Wuthering Heights on their MySpace webpage.
