Charlotte Riley, who will play Catherine Earnshaw opposite Tom Hardy's Heathcliff in a two-part version of Emily Bronte's Wuthering Heights, which Coky Giedroyc starts shooting next week for ITV. No, this is totally different from the big-screen production I've been banging on about for months, which films in the autumn. Ms Riley, currently to be seen as Anya in The Cherry Orchard at Chichester, will also appear in Stephan Elliott's film of Noel Coward's Easy Virtue later in the year. Burn Gorman, Andrew Lincoln and Sarah Lancashire also star.EDIT:
Categories: Movies-DVD-TV, Wuthering HeightsIn Cannes, it was announced that he will play Heathcliff in John Maybury's new movie of Wuthering Heights . Natalie Portman was to have played Cathy, but dropped out because of other commitments. "I'm very curious who they will cast as Cathy," Fassbender says. "Heathcliff is a great role, but I'm a bit nervous about it until I get my Yorkshire accent right."
He is bemused that the producers of Wuthering Heights are already claiming him as "the most exciting contemporary British actor" and "a Brando for Britain".
Ahh, i see. I can't believe they got her name wrong. I think she looks like a good Cathy. Burn Gorman is in it!! I assume he's playing Hindley.
ReplyDeleteMichael sounds lovely. I'm sure he's going to a great Heathcliff. I'm happy to hear he's doing a Yorkshire accent too. I'm excited for both adaptations.
Oh God. I just had a horrible thought. Since this production is only going to do the first half, or so we think, for all we know the original reports could be wrong about that too. However, if they aren't doing the second generation and an Isabella hasn't be named yet. You don't think they've cut her, do you?
ReplyDeleteOkay, i swear to God this is my last post tonight. But i was poking around and i found people talking here:

If this is to be believed, then the ITV is going to do both generations. If you scroll down it also says who's playing Cathy Junior. Perhaps it's the film version where Heathcliff will commit suicide. Not 100% sure about this because it's a forum, but if you want to look.
Thank you very much, Faye. As you can see we have edited the post according to the new rumours.
ReplyDeleteHey, I just thought i would point out on that Digital Spy forum, they're now saying that Rosalind Halstead is actually going to play Isabella.
ReplyDeleteThanks! We have edited the post according to the last rumourology :).
