Some rumorology about the latest Wuthering Heights project (the Ecosse Films production directed by John Maybury). The Daily Mail says:
There's a lot of interest in playing Heathcliff in the big-screen Wuthering Heights that John Maybury is preparing to direct this autumn.
I gather he has met Colin Farrell, Dominic Cooper and Sam Riley, but no decisions have been made. Maybury has the film The Edge Of Love coming out, with Keira Knightley and Sienna Miller giving top performances, but neither will be in Wuthering Heights. (Baz Bamigboye)
Keighley News reports another initiative to promote the tourism in the region:

Vivid images of tourist attractions in Keighley and Bronte Country are to be emblazoned on a pair of railway carriages.
Members of the Bronte Country Partnership (BCP) were told last Wednesday that Northern Rail has made two carriages available to the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway (KWVR).
Once they have been decorated, they should advertise some of the region's highlights while carrying passengers on the Leeds to Carlisle rail route.
Matthew Stroh, of the K&WVR, said the project would cost about £7,000, so would need backing from the BCP.
He said part of the cost was being shouldered by Keighley Town Council and the Keighley Town Centre Association. Keighley town councillor Graham Mitchell said the ideal design would feature large, eye-catching images, which would be easily visible when the train is in motion.
BCP representatives agreed to support the project and pledged to provide £500. (Miran Rahman)

  1. Hmmm. Heathcliff. I'm not sure about that. I can see why Colin would be considered for the role, but i personaly don't like him for it. I don't think Dominic is imposing enough for the role. I actually had Sam Riley in mind for Hareton, but i think he could potentially be a Heathcliff.

  2. I agree. Out of them three the one i can see the most is Sam Riley. He wouldn't be a conventional Heathcliff looks-wise, but i think that could possibly be a good thing. I saw him in Control and he's a very powerful actor and a Yorkshire boy to boot!!!!

  3. Judging an actor's looks for a role might just be the equivalent of judging a book by its cover but I have to agree with you both that Colin Farrell doens't quite match my mental image of Heathcliff.

But then again good acting and make-up go a long way towards making one perfect for a role.

  4. The only thing that confuses me is that i thought it was their intention to cast young. Dominic and Sam are both 27 and Colin is
    30+.
