A Portrait of Emily? Further information by Sarah Fermi
In response to a previous article by Mr W L Callaghan on this painting by Thomas Grimshaw illustrating an edition of the Poems of Emily Brontë, allegedly of Emily Brontë, Sarah Fermi concludes that
I think it is very unlikely that the picture is one of the Brontës, particularly as in 1845 any portrait of the girls much more likely be by Branwell. However, the fact that there is a Yorkshire connection is tantalizing. Perhaps someday the original painting will surface and we will lean the identity of the sitter.

  3. I would like to read the article by Mr W L Callaghan relating to the painting by Mr Thomas Grimshaw of Emily Bronte. Could anyone give me the Bronte Society Gazette issue number and how to obtain a copy. A am a distant relative of Thomas Grimshaw.
