Kate Bush's Wuthering Heights covers continue appearing. Lately, we have posted about The Puppini Sisters, The Decemberists, The Sweptaways, The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain (yes, we swear). And the turn now is to Gabrielle Angelique in her latest album: Dance with Stars.According to CDbaby, Gabrielle Angelique is a
You can judge for yourself listen to the version here.Contemporary, celtic new age, singer and harpist that sounds: modern folk, ambient, world fusion, folky pop, soft rock, love songs, experimental mood music.
I have to admit that when I received “Dance With the Stars” for review, I was a bit skeptical. Celtic music was done to death a few years ago, so I was happily shocked to be completely blown away by Gabrielle Angelique’s incredible voice and amazing story songs. (...) Angelique’s voice is the focus on this CD, as it should be, and she also plays the accompanying harp and keyboards. The background instrumentation is perfect in its simplicity - ambient keyboard washes, harp, and the occasional rhythm track to set the soul to dancing. (...)I also really like “Wuthering Heights,” which was written by Kate Bush, but Angelique makes it her own. Passion and desperation run through the song, and yet Cathy’s voice is clear and strong in knowing what she wants. “ (Kathy Parsons in SPP)

I love Gabrielle's version of "Wuthering Heights".Her voice is so powerful yet full of grace.I'm glad to see her on this page.
ReplyDeleteWuthering Heights versions are always so unique. It's fascinating how the same song can be made so personal by the artist.
