We knew a shirtless Rochester would be too much for some. This is what The Times online sex advisor has to say on the matter:

There is, in any case, a huge difference between fantasising about having sex with someone other than your wife and actually going to bed with them. Your wife, when making love to you, may well be fantasising about a chance meeting with the actor Toby Stephens (Mr Rochester in Jane Eyre), being whisked away by him and taken to bed, where the most remarkable adventures occur.
We are simply left speechless.

  1. Having a shirtless man would increase him in popularity, it seems.
Didn't an article in another newspaper post the results of a poll, in which Darcy wins over Rochester in terms of popularity? I wouldn't be surprised if the next question will be "who was better shirtless"?

  2. Just wait until shirtless Rochester sinks in the collective memory. Perhaps if that Rochester vs Darcy is asked again in a few years' time the difference won't be quite so abismal :P

  5. Oh dear, I've been found out!
Except he wasn't shirtless and doesn't need to be so to make me go weak at the knees ... ;)
