An alert from the
Australian Brontë Association (ABA):
Saturday SEPTEMBER 2ndat 10:30am
Robyn Williams: The Horror, the HorrorExploring the Gothic elements in Jane Eyre and Wuthering Heights. In contrast to the mid-nineteenth century novels of social realism, Charlotte and Emily Brontë mix the Gothic and the Romantic with an originality that is haunting, disturbing and elusive.Meetings are held on level 1 of the Sydney Mechanics’ School of Arts, 280 Pitt St Sydney (just around the corner from Town Hall station), with a meeting charge of $4.
That Conrad reference (
the horror, the horror!) has made this half of BrontëBlog to think... does anybody knows if Joseph Conrad read the Brontës? And if he did... what was his opinion?
