The New Zealand Herald publishes an article about Emily Barclay and her part as Anne Brontë in the upcoming Brontë biopic:

New Zealander Barclay will be one of the stars of Brontë, a period piece about the 19th-century literary family.
Barclay, 22, plays Anne Brontë, the youngest and least celebrated of the family's three sisters, who died of tuberculosis at 29.

On the other hand the Southwest Florida Herald Tribune we found an article about... well, about the whole Jane Eyre experience:

The same is true for "Jane Eyre" by Charlotte Brontë. Amazingly, I had actually downloaded the audio version, from New Millennium Audio, two full years ago. Sadly, this particular version, read by Juliet Mills, is no longer available on audible.com. It seems to be available at great cost -- $170 -- on audio cassette via amazon.com.

There are plenty of versions out there -- I did a quick preview of various abridged and unabridged versions on Audible -- so choose what suits your listening needs. Then plug in those headphones and get ready to sink into one of literature's greatest love stories.

I suppose there are people out there who aren't already fans of the 1847 Gothic romance (a quick look at a couple of Web forums yielded "I hate this book; it's dumb," among other comments).

But it has long held a special place in my heart, especially since my younger daughter was part of the cast of the world premiere of the musical version in 1995 in Wichita, Kan. (Recordings of the musical make a nice counterpoint to the audiobook, although I have to say I don't care as much for the 2000 Broadway version as for an earlier CD with Marla Schaffel and Anthony Crivello as Jane and Rochester.)
