A voice of my own is a play written by Elinor Jones, first produced in 1979,
is about six women writers, including the Brontë sisters, George Sand and George Eliot, and how they created their own voices despite having to take on a man's name at times. Last month
we presented a student production that was taken part in the Massachusetts State High School Drama Guild Festival Competition. It seems that this piece is particularly popular among this kind of competitions because now
we have read thatThe Searsport District High School drama club, including the cast of “A Voice of My Own” and the students behind the scenes, are headed to the state final for drama after winning the regional title Friday, March 10, at the 2006 Regional Maine Drama Festival, at Bangor High School. On the picture we can see
students Amber Ward, Sarah Ellis, Renae Curtis, Lisa Hudson, Abby Norman, Allyson LaPoint, and Hillary Hoyt act in the play. Each girl plays several character roles, including Edna St. Vincent Millay, Emily Brontë, Jane Austen, and Harriet Beecher Stowe. Categories: Theatre, In_the_News
