Music from the movies publishes a review of the CD "The Essential Michel Legrand Film Music Collection". We remind our readers that some weeks ago we posted information on the release of this CD, because it contains music from the 1970's version of Wuthering Heights composed by Michel Legrand.

Michel Legrand is one of France’s greatest modern composers, and his beautiful melodic style has gained him international recognition. However, neither he nor his music has ever been influenced by success, and his sense of fun and meticulous attention to musical detail is just as apparent now as it was forty years ago. This collection from Silva Screen, part of their “Essential” series, is therefore especially welcome because Michel Legrand himself conducts The Flemish Radio Orchestra. The selection includes many of his most popular themes, and a few that have been less obtainable. (...)

Michel Legrand’s sombre, but emotive music to Wuthering Heights seems to be one of his most overlooked scores, but makes a welcome and dramatic appearance on this album.

If you'd like to listen to a sample of this music look at our old post.
