If you happen to be in the Nayland area (Essex, UK) from November 24 to 26, make sure you book a ticket for the Jane Eyre play staged by the Village Players at the Nayland Village Hall.
Much like the Brontë story itself, the history of this play is one of work in adversity. Jean Jones, the former chairman of the Village Players intended to direct it according to a dramatisation by Willis Hall before her untimely death a couple of years ago. Instead of abandoning the project, Bryan Smith took over and the company now presents the results.
Sudbury Today tells us the cast is made up by no less than 30 actors. Alan Hodges plays Rochester and Georgia Sams becomes Jane Eyre. Meanwhile, the
local section of the BBC for Essex assures us that "this promises to be a lavish and unmissable production".
