review of the current production of Jane Eyre, the musical in the
CM Performing Arts, Long Island, Oakdale, NY.
"At CM Performing Arts, Brianne Boyd enacts a somberly spirited Jane Eyre, matching a refined score with dignity and a disciplined mezzo-soprano. Timothy Conway as Rochester, the lord of Thornfield Hall who hires Jane as governess for his motherless child, presents a dark romantic counterpoint. Andrea Galerno as the hard-of-hearing housekeeper leavens the solemnity of Rochester's crushing secret with her malapropisms. Amplifying the protagonist's spunk is Rosemary Turner as young Jane, an abused but defiant orphan.
