A final event of the Brontë Society Summer Festival 2019:
Excursion to Dewsbury Minster, Dewsbury Town Hall and Shibden Hall, Halifax
9am to approx 5pm
Meet outside West Lane Baptist Centre, Haworth
A heritage tour of Dewsbury Minster, where in December 1809, Patrick arrived to take up the post of curate, followed by a tour of Dewsbury Town Hall, where the Brontë Society held their first annual meeting in December 1894. Lunch is at the award-winning restaurant at Healds Hall Hotel, and en route to the hotel, you will pass a number of locations with Brontë connections. The day will end with a tour of Shibden Hall in Halifax, the former home of diarist and entrepreneur Anne Lister, and filming locations for Sally Wainwright's new drama about Anne Lister, Gentleman Jack.
