The word 'music' is regularly used in literary analyses of the sisters' writing, particularly as  regards its rhythmic structure or metre. It is known that music played an important and enjoyable role in the siblings' growing up  into adulthood, but did this enjoyment of music have any effect on their creative output? Emily was, beyond dispute, the most musically accomplished of the four surviving Brontë children. Her knowledge and love of music, the part it  played in her life and the influence it had upon her writing, is the subject of the first part of this study. The second part is an analysis or description of every single music score known to have been owned by the family.
