Haworth Moor
Start/finish: Haworth / Hebden Bridge
Distance: 12.5 miles [...]
Take a bus from hip Hebden Bridge to hilltop Haworth – where the Brontë sisters lived – and walk back. You get literary shivers: from Haworth’s Brontë Museum, you’re soon up on wild, windy Haworth Moor, heading for the ruined farmhouse of Top Withens, possible inspiration for Wuthering Heights. Then you get a bit of wild Pennine Way, via heathery uplands and the Walshaw Dean reservoirs. Then the world changes completely, as you descend into the enchanted, river-tinkled gorge of Hardcastle Crags. (Sarah Baxter)
