Relishing her role, Gemma Whelan’s head and elbow-strong Charlotte is in stark contrast to the imagined, brooding writer, annually laid low by seasonal affective disorder and vicariously living in introversion. This Charlotte has wit and humour and a sharp tongue – and we love her.The other, other Brontë is Anne (Rhiannon Clements) and Emily (Adele James), who although she appears less, is the still, centred other. Like the model of trimurti or trinity, in this sibling triptych Anne is the creator to Charlotte’s destroyer and Emily’s grounding preservation.Set against a backdrop of Victorian values and limitations on rights and opportunities for women. In an ironic twist, the men in this cast, playing multiple characters, reflect light back to the sisters, the suns on this stage. (Anya Cook)
When, in 1956, he backed The Master of Thornfield, a notoriously ill-advised dramatization of Jane Eyre , it was a city-wide joke. Starring in the role of Rochester was Hartford’s buddy Errol Flynn, a well-known lothario. Because the play was so under-rehearsed and the leading man so over-served, there were TelePrompTers hidden in the flats and cue cards hanging from the furniture. (Megan McKinney)
The scope of what the holodeck can create is supposedly limitless, but characters always choose from very basic tropes, or often a literary take-off like Sherlock Holmes or Jane Eyre. (Dana Hanson)
Captain Janeway's holodeck was Janeway Lambda one and if you're interested, it has a complete Wikipedia entry.
4. Wuthering Heights by Emily BrontëWuthering Heights is a dark, intense novel that explores the complexities of human emotions and relationships. The story of Heathcliff and Catherine's tumultuous love reveals the destructive power of passion, jealousy, and revenge. Emily Brontë’s portrayal of these characters' psychological turmoil offers profound insights into human nature.
(Translation)
Lourdes Toledo: Contar, narrar, fabular i confabular.
