An alert for today, January 24, at the Brotnë Parsonage Museum:

Thursday Talks
Both Charlotte and Anne Brontë trod the familiar path of the respectable but poor unmarried woman of their time and worked as a governess; earning a pittance in other peoples houses, teaching other peoples’ daughters. Both drew on their experiences to create a novel, but there the similarity ends. This talk explores the plight of the governess in the mid – 19th century and how differently the novels Jane Eyre and Agnes Grey respond to it.
Our Thursday Talks are delivered by our lovely in-house Parsonage staff. This year we will be delivering them in person at the Parsonage, and online for anyone who can't make it to the museum.
