‘I want you to walk with me but to see through their eyes as I compare the times they lived in with the times we live in now. Let’s start in the village where they were born …’
This beautifully illustrated talk takes us in the footsteps of the Brontës across meadow and moor, through village and town. Award-winning writer Michael Stewart takes a series of inspirational walks through the lives and landscapes of the Brontë family. He explores the ‘
wild, windy moors’
that Kate Bush sang about in Wuthering Heights, shows the imposing halls that may have inspired Thornfield Hall in Jane Eyre and reveals Bramwell’s affair with a real life Mrs Robinson. Michael Stewart is Head of Creative Writing at the University of Huddersfield, a poet and the author of 4 novels including Ill Will. He is the creator of the Brontë Stones project.
Trisha Cooper is a broadcaster and producer at BBC Radio Sheffield
