This talk will look at features of early writing in an attempt to provide insight into what led particular children to become authors and why we might find it worthwhile to read their juvenilia. The talk is designed as an introduction or ‘taster’ for the Seventh International Literary Juvenilia Conference which will be held at UNSW Sydney from Wednesday 18 May to Saturday 21 May 2022, on Literary Juvenilia, material imagination and ‘things’.
