Performances are at

The play explores the lives of the Brontë sisters, who became well-known writers at a time when women often submitted their works to publishers under male pen names in hopes of publication. The family lived in isolation on the Yorkshire Moors. The sisters are seen in their struggle to find a place in the publishing industry – and among each other.Teale’s script weaves scenes of both imagination and reality as the characters of Bertha from “Jane Eyre” and Cathy from “Wuthering Heights” come to life, mirroring parts of their author’s personalities that can only be explored through their fiction. The production is directed Stephen Rupsch, associate dean for visual and performing arts and associate professor of theater studies. Heading up design for the production is April Beiswenger, associate professor of theater, scenographer and director of theater studies; Corey Pinchart technical director; and Brittney Roffers, assistant technical director. This is the same team that brought audiences last summer’s musical, “Mary Poppins.” (Warren Gerds)
