A new amateur production of Wuthering Heights opens tomorrow in Netherton:
Dudley Little Theatre presents
Wuthering Heightsby Emily Bronte (adapted by Charles Vance)
8th to 11th March 2017
Netherton Arts Centre
Northfield Road, Netherton, West Midlands. DY2 9ER

The wilds of the Yorkshire Moors are brought vividly to life in this stage adaptation of Emily Brontë’s classic novel of romance and revenge. Heathcliff is the remote and mysterious gypsy-like hero who rises in his adopted family and is then reduced to the status of a servant. When the young woman he loves marries another he flees the Moors. Later he returns, now rich and educated, with the intention of seeking his revenge on those he believes ruined his life. Emily Brontë’s only novel was published in 1847 and has since inspired many adaptations. The story’s sweeping mystery and romance now comes to Dudley Little Theatre’s stage!
Dudley News gives some further information:
Frank Martino directs Jane Williams and Ray Curran in the lead roles of ill-fated lovers Catherine Earnshaw and the mysterious Heathcliff whose lives become inextricably linked from childhood after the Earnshaw family adopts the young gypsy-like Heathcliff who is treated like little more than a servant before he flees the Moors to make his fortune.
Tony Stamp, as Catherine's brother Hindley, and Flora Deeley, as Cathy's daughter, are among the ensemble cast members in this inter-generational love story set on the wild Yorkshire Moors. (Bev Holder)
And Express & Star adds:
In charge of wardrobe is Phil Sheffield who adapts costumes and can even run up a dress or jacket if needs be. Several of the members help out with the sets.
“We’ve got a really good backstage crew who, although not professionals, like knocking things together. It’s very much a homemade production.”
