BroadwayWorld has learned the sad news that former silent film star, one of the last remaining Our Gang (aka, Hal Roach's Little Rascals) series regulars, as well as original Broadway Carousel cast member, Jean Darling has died. She was 93.And she was the very (very) improbable young (and blondie) Jane Eyre on the first sound film adaptation (or something like it) which was filmed in 1934.
Darling made her Broadway debut in the musical Count Me In in 1942. Darling's stage career hit a real high when she landed the role of Carrie Pipperidge in the original Broadway production of Carousel in 1945. She appeared in 850 consecutive performances.
