Jane Eyre. An Autobiography. Edited by Currer Bell. London: Smith, Elder and Co., 1847
8vo (198 x 121mm.), first edition, 3 volumes, publisher's 32pp. catalogue dated June 1847 and one leaf advertising The Calcutta Review at the end of volume 1, original dark greyish reddish brown vertically-ribbed cloth, covers decorated in blind with triple line border enclosing decorative trellis-like border, pale yellow endpapers, preserved in blue cloth case and quarter blue morocco slipcase, recased, expert restoration and repairs to the spine ends, joints and hinges

8vo (196 x 122mm.), 3 volumes, third edition, half-titles, with 2 pages of advertisements at the beginning of volume 1 and a 16-page publisher’s catalogue (dated September, 1849) at the end, 8 pages of reviews at the end of volume 3, volume 1 lacking the "9" in pagination on p.279 and the period in the headline of p.287, volume 3 without the "J" on p.95 and with the comma on the title-page clipped (all variants noted by Smith), publisher’s dark purple-brown vertically-ribbed cloth, blocked in blind and lettered in gold, yellow endpapers, Westley's & Co. binder’s ticket on rear pastedown of volume 1, in modern chemises and red morocco-backed slipcase, covers very slightly scuffed, spines slightly bumped at head and foot, neat repairs to volume 2 at head of spine, some wear to joints.

8vo (189 x 112mm.), 3 volumes, first edition, 3-page advertisement for the third edition of Jane Eyre at end of volume 3, with volume 2, p.304 correctly numbered and with the error '"Well said he' in line 1 not corrected, contemporary half calf, spines gilt, red morocco lettering-pieces, lacking 16-page publisher's catalogue in volume 1, some wear to hinge of volume 2 with small tear at foot of gutter in first few pages.
