An alert for today, December 7, in Sidney, Australia:

Not the only event that the Australian Brontë Society and the NSW Dickens Society are preparing together:
Advance Notice of Our Next Conference 2014
Joint Conference with the NSW Dickens Society

30th October - 2nd November 2014
Venue: Waldorf Leura Gardens Resort, Leura, Blue Mountains NSW
Theme: North and South

The talks will explore differences between the culture of the north of England and the South in relation to the work of the Brontës and Charles Dickens
Mrs Gaskell, as someone personally known to both the Brontës and Dickens will get some mention, especially her influences on Dickens and the Brontes.
But despite the title, this is not a Gaskell conference and will not touch on Gaskell's novel "North and South".
Further Details will be posted in due course
And at the Brontë Parsonage Museum (more or less, at the other side of the Earth):
Saturday 7 December, 11am - 4pm
Brontë Parsonage Museum
Join artist Charlotte Cory at the Museum for this magical Visitorian Christmas for families; have your own Visitorian portrait taken, visit the Brontë Puppet Theatre and sing carols around the tree
Free with admission to the Museum
