Many Indian news oulets talk about the death of Pran (Pran Krishan Sikand) (1920 – 2013), a popular Indian actor mostly known for his villain roles. In Abdul Rashid Kardar and Dilip Kumar's Wuthering Heights adaptation, Dil Diya Dard Liya (1966), he played the villain (of course) Thakur Ramesh, a sort of transposed Indian Hindley.
Pran’s most compelling appearances were with his close friend and neighbour Dilip Kumar. There were a whole series of them, but few as riveting as Dil Diya Dard Liya, where he played a nasty feudal to Kumar’s Heathcliff in an Indian transcreation of Emily Brontë’s Wuthering Heights.
