Prof. Maddalena De Leo has released the results of her first literary prize:
LITERARY PRIZE DE LEO – BRONTË 2012 RESULTS
Prof. Maddalena De Leo and other Italian Brontë scholars chose the first three winners of each
section as follows.
The three winning poetry entries are:
1) Promessa by Carla de Falco from Naples
(a delicate poem in which a promise is asked by Jane from Rochester to be cured of her pains forever)
2) Via da Grassdale Manor by Anna Maria Dall’Olio from Pistoia
(a short and original summary of ‘The Tenant’ in only fourteen verses)
3) Haworth by Silvia Mazzanti from Chivasso (TO)
(a very sad poem describing the sounds and the places so dear to the Brontës)
The three winning tales are:
1) Il mio mondo by Francesca Santucci from Bergamo
(a spiritual confession by Emily in which she recollects all her past and above all her feelings for nature and mainly her love for the moor)
2) Io, Jane by Marzia Ciardi from Rosignano Marittimo (LI)
(a tale told by Charlotte herself recollecting her everlasting love for M. Heger)
3) Né terre, né cieli, né mari by Eleonora Mauriello from S.Nicola la Strada (CE)
(a tale told by Anne about the story of the family and her particular life-long bond with Emily)
The six winners will be given Brontë books, DVD and CD prizes.
The anthology ‘Brontëana’ containing all the works sent by the authors for the prize will be edited and published in a short time by Prof. De Leo.
