Today, April 9, at the Manx Amateur Drama Federation Festival (Isle of Man), the Swindon company Whole Hog Productions will present a production of Polly Teale's Jane Eyre:
Manx Amateur Drama Federation
Easter Festival of Plays
Gaiety Theatre (7-13 April)
7.30 PM

April 9. Jane Eyre.

This is Jane Eyre for the new millennium. Polly Teale's groundbreaking adaptation of Charlotte Brontë's novel is a passionate, physical and psychological drama. In a brilliant stroke of dramatic licence, Teale has taken the role of Bertha, the mad-woman, and made her a tempestuous extension of Jane's imagination. The play not only explores the trauma of relationships in Victorian times, but is also a rollickingly good romantic saga with plenty of intrigue and reversals of fortune.
The poster was made for a preview that was finally canceled. More information in the Swindon Advertiser.

At the other side of the pond, the Dixie State College of Utah (St. George, Utah) celebrates the second annual research day with some Brontë-related contributions:
Understanding Jane Eyre: Don’t Believe Everything She Sees
Author: Kiera B. Durfee
Mentor: Dr. Randy Jasmin
Jane Eyre and “The Yellow Wallpaper”: Portrayals of Reality in Nineteenth Century Treatments of Mental Illness
Author: Jennifer Youngberg

The abstracts can be read here (the first talk is a bit weird, to say the least). The second speaker talks with the The St George Spectrum about her research.
