In Winston-Salem, North Carolina, an alert for today, December 22:
"Heathcliff, it's me… Cathy"

Make sure to come out to Mike Shepherd's Gallery Show at Ember Gallery this Thursday the 22nd of December at 6pm.

"Please come enjoy the entertaining new paintings of Mike Shepherd at Trade Street's newest gallery. Shepherd ratchets up the absurdism higher than ever in his newest batch of paintings and 3-D art. The portraits of animals and humans, both famous and unknown, are more humorous and intriguing than his work has ever been. Most notable about Shepherd's new works are a stylistic shift towards softer lines, gradient skies, and more cartoonish expressions. Of course, Shepherd's trademark use of commanding bold colors and jarring contrasts on shiny, pop-art-esque compositions, remains intact, and more refined.

The show is named for Kate Bush's song "Wuthering Heights", based on Emily Brontë's book "Wuthering Heights", with due credit to George Gately's syndicated comic strip "Heathcliff", and Cathy Guisewhite's syndicated comic strip "Cathy".
More information in the Winston-Salem Journal.
