1. In Malden, MA
Malden Public Library
The Monday Book Discussion Group meets at 7:00 p.m. in the library on the first Monday of each month to discuss titles selected by members of the group.
• September 12, 2011 – Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë
Summary of Jane Eyre:
On the surface the book is a fairly conventional Gothic romance (poor orphan governess is hired by a rich, brooding Byronic hero-type). But the story is very much about the nature of human freedom and equality, and if Jane was seen as something of a renegade in nineteenth-century England, it is because her story is that of a woman who struggles for self-definition and determination in a society that too often denies her that right.
 2. In Brocton, NY:
Ahira Hall Memorial Library, a Portland Town Library located at 37 W. Main St. in Brocton, will host the Tuesday Night Readers Book Club on Tuesday, Sept. 13, at 6:30 p.m. in the main reading room.
The book club is newly organized and will meet the second Tuesday of every odd month at the library from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Refreshments will be provided.
For the month of September, a selection of three classics was chosen: "To Kill a Mockingbird" by Harper Lee, "The Great Gatsby" by F. Scott Fitzgerald and "Jane Eyre" by Charlotte Bronte. By choosing three different books, a reader may read one, two or all three and yet have an interactive discussion on a book or books and just what made it a classic - an author's style, plot, etc. (The Observer)
