A press release from the
Brontë Parsonage Parsonage:
Easter Fun at the Brontë Parsonage Museum
The Brontë Parsonage Museum is hoping for a busy Easter break this year. The museum has had a brisk start to the year following re-opening in February. The museum has been redisplayed with lots of new Brontë treasures to see and a new exhibition which focuses on the Brontës’ remarkable father, Patrick, and his role in the nineteenth century Haworth community.
In addition to the new displays there will also be Easter drop-in activities taking place on Friday 22 April from 10.30am to 4.30pm. Artist Rachel Lee will be leading Easter bonnet making activities with a Brontë twist. There will also be a family Easter trail between 16 and 25 April, complete with prizes, and the big Brontë Parsonage dressing up box will be out for adults and children to try bonnets, dresses, top hats, and tailcoats!
Easter is also an opportunity to experience the results of a remarkable project the museum has undertaken with artist Catherine Bertola. Her exhibition To be forever known features a haunting new sound installation for the Parsonage Dining Room, inspired by the Brontës' letters and drawing on the architectural resonances of the house. An accompanying series of pin-hole photographs show the artist 'performing' domestic rituals described in written records of the house.
