Another curious photographic project we have found on the net is Ian Howard's (aka huujuu) Brontë meets Alice in Wonderland: uNDERLaND.
The long causeway is mentioned in Emily Brontë's diary as a route she took from Thornton to Haworth. It is situated on the tops between Denholme and Oxenhope (where this image was taken) . For this project 'The Long Causeway' is a metaphor for the route (the rabbit hole) that leads to the underworld, underland, wonderland, parallel universe, dreamland ....(whatever you want to call it !) . This is the secret route that the Brontës had to take to discover their creative powers.
Although Branwell is probably the lesser known of the Brontës, he played an important role in their 'evolution' and was a key link between them and their masonic benefactors.
We don't know exactly which "Emily Brontë's diary" the author refers to (unless it is connected to this quote from Marie Campbell's The Strange World of the Brontës) or their 'masonic benefactors'.

The rest of the pictures can be seen on Facebook or Flickr.

  1. :0) Hello (0:

Glad you found the photos. The mention of 'Long Causeway' is specific to a walk that Emily was describing in the diary.....although, it may turn out to be a diary entry made by Branwell that was wrongly attributed to Emily at the a later date by a controversial former custodian at the parsonage. There will be more information coming soon about this, the masonic connections......and other interesting and hopefully surprising, happenings to accompany the photos.

    Ian
