A first one-sheet poster has been released for Jane Eyre 2011. As published on the film's Facebook:

In select theatres March 11, 2011.
Based on Charlotte Brontë’s classic novel, the romantic drama stars Mia Wasikowska (“Alice in Wonderland”) and Michael Fassbender (“Inglourious Basterds”) in the lead roles. In the story, Jane Eyre flees Thornfield House, where she works as a governess for wealthy Edward Rochester. The isolated and imposing residence – and Mr. Rochester’s coldness – have sorely tested the young woman’s resilience, forged years earlier when she was orphaned. As Jane reflects upon her past and recovers her natural curiosity, she will return to Mr. Rochester – and the terrible secret that he is hiding…
EDIT 9/11/2010: Many, many news outlets comment on the poster, etc. To name but a few of them: FilmShaft, Collider, Hollywood News, First Showing, The Film Stage, The Playlist, Slash Film, Pedestrian TV, Aceshowbiz, Oh No They Didn't...

  1. Isn't it funny how every Jane seems to have the same hairstyle? :) And wow, the first GLIMPSE of Fassbender as Rochester!

  3. The poster is very artistic. I always knew Michael Fassbender was destined for the Rochester role. When I first saw him in BBC'S Gunpowder, Treason and Plot (he played Guy Fawkes), I thought what a great brooding, Byronic hero he would make. On that subject, he would make a great Heathcliff too, in the same vein as Ralph Fiennes, but as an older Heathcliff, not a younger one as nearly every adaptation so far has fallen into the trap of casting their Heathcliff way too old for the part of the novel they are covering....anyway, that's another story. But Rochester...WOW! he looks great... always been in my dreamcast! I have a fearful dread however, as all other movies have done in the past, that this version will be no exception and gallop along at an uncomfortable pace to squeeze the tale into a 2 hour slot. I know film makers are limited with time where films are concerned, that is why I have never been a fan of these classics as movies... they get completely ruined. Jane Eyre needs a good 4 hours ideally.... anyhow, I daresay I will be trotting along to the cinema to check this one out, even if it is just to gaze dreamily at the leading man...oh, I will be engrossed in the plot too of course, as any true Bronte nerd should be..cough!!!
