As read today on Catherine Mayer's (Time Magazine's journalist) twitter:
# Mia Wasikowska is, incidentally, wonderful as Jane Eyre.

# Not least because Michael Fassbender does for breeches what Colin Firth did for breeches.

# Watched the rough cut of forthcoming Jane Eyre movie. I think Mr Rochester will do for Michael Fassbender what Mr Darcy did for Colin Firth.

# I deliberated a moment; my answer, when it did come, was objectionable: "I must keep in good health, and not die."

And Harrods Magazine (July/August 2010) interviews Michael Fassbender:
So far, 2010 is proving equally frenetic. Fassbender has already finished filming a new version of Jane Eyre, playing Mr Rochester opposite Alice in Wonderland’s Mia Wasikowska. “Mia is amazing,” he vouches. “She’s got such a maturity about her, and such an interesting face. I’m really excited about the film.” (Matt Mueller)
