Imelda and David Marsden, active members of the Brontë Society, have alerted us to this:
Saturday, June 5th (Brontë Society AGM weekend) at 11pm: a ghost hunt at the Black Bull, Haworth's most famous public house standing in a little, cobbled square at the top of Main Street near the church steps. Frequented by Patrick Branwell Brontë (brother of the famous literary Brontë sisters) where he would drink excessively until he died in 1848, age 31 years. The Black Bull still houses 'Branwell's Chair', the famous chair he used during his many visits to the pub.

The Black Bull is believed to be haunted and was featured in the 'Most Haunted' television series. A psychic events company - Ghostparanormal - is to present the event with full investigation of the building and land. Ticket price: £25 (includes food, use of paranormal equipment and much more). Will Branwell be there too? It promises to be an interesting evening.

This event is organised by the pub and the events company. Tickets are available from the Black Bull, tel. 01535 642249, or from Mark, tel. 01422 241049.
And regrettably we have to announce that the much-awaited Jude Morgan and Juliet Barket talk at the Brontë Parsonage Museum has been cancelled:
Thursday 13 May - APOLOGIES BUT THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED DUE TO ILLNESS
Jude Morgan and Juliet Barker: The Brontës from Fact to Fiction.
Novelist Jude Morgan discusses his recent novel The Taste of Sorrow, a fictionalised account of the Brontes' lives, with Bronte biographer Juliet Barker - 2pm - West Lane Baptist Centre, Haworth.

  1. Juliet Barker + Jude would always have been a treat.

    Hope they recover well.
