According to Screen Terrier, the Andrea Arnold's production of Wuthering Heights has found its Cathy: Kaya Scodelario (Moon, Skins, Clash of the Titans). Apparently they are still looking for Heathcliff and their younger versions. April's Fool joke or true? We will see.

EDIT (03/04/2010): As tj has said on a comment, the confirmation has come from Kaya Scodelario herself on her twitter account:

  1. I don't think this will be an April fools joke. What would be funny about it? Kaya said on her twitter a couple of days ago that she's having riding lessons for a part. So, that would support this.

  3. "probs" read the book? i think i would be a greatly offended if she doesnt. it feels like she wouldn't really know Cathy or the story well enough to do a successful portrayal.

  4. Jack, I just had that same thought.. Pleace Kaya, take this serius and don't make us disapointed.

  5. A bit disappointed as I thought that pretty doe eyed Gemma Arterton was to play Cathy, I do not think that the chosen actress has anything remotely Cathy about her and this is a problem with every version. Will she be wearing contacts? as Cathy's eyes were brown not blue.
I really think that that the role of Cathy needs someone with a great aura about them, so I will probably skip this film.

  6. The eye colour, though significant, is not too worrying.

Oh, don't say you'll skip the movie when it isn't even being shot yet. At this point it has such potential.

  7. Apparently Kaya has not even read the book, so this is a wonderful choice for Cathy.

  8. Cristina you are right! I should not say I will skip the movie as it could be very good.
But there has been so many versions of WH and the next always worse than the last. There has been Heathcliff with blue eyes and Cathy with a french accent and a version were they looked old enough to play Cathy's mother and farther.
I know WH is a hard story to follow but they could at least try. And why is Heathcliff never shown as dark skinned?.
I personally believe the 1978 series was the best version although its a bit dated and not particularly perfect, it is the most definitive version and does show that the complete novel can be done.
