Via Live-PR we have come across the blog Open Casting Calls. Andrea Arnold's Wuthering Heights has just submitted a few calls, which is good news both for those who want to give it a try and for those who are hoping this project really takes off at long last. Here are the details:
Casting Director Gail Stevens (Slumdog Millionaire, The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, UK casting for High School Musical 3) is holding open casting calls for a new major feature film called Wuthering Heights. She is seeking 2 Unknown Actors from Yorkshire, UK for the starring roles in the film.

Peter Webber is no longer attached to direct, and has been replaced with Oscar and BAFTA Award Winning director Andrea Arnold. Due to the departure of Peter Webber, the two actors originally cast for the two lead roles (Gemma Arterton, Ed Westwick) are also being replaced during these open casting calls.

Shooting will begin late April 2010, through June, 2010 in Scotland and Ireland.

This is an Open Audition.

  1. They should look into British actor Ben Wishaw for the role of Heathcliff. I think he'd be excellent in the role!

  2. They should try to keep the story as close to the novel as possible- Half the charm of the story lies in the story of Cathy and Hareton's love.

  3. Not fussed on Ben Whishaw as Heathcliff he is a bit to old for the part and is not dark enough, and Heathcliff's eyes were brown not blue like the mentioned actor.
However with most versions of WH they never pick actors that really look the part. They are usually to old and Heathcliff never looks of Gypsy or Eastern descent, but maybe this time they will at least try to get It right for a change.
