A press release from the
Brontë Parsonage Museum:
THE BRONTËS AT CHRISTMAS
The Brontë Parsonage Museum is celebrating the start of the festive season with a special event for visitors to the museum on Saturday 12 December 2009.
It is almost Christmas 1847 and the Brontës are at home. Will Charlotte reveal Currer Bell’s true identity? Will Emily eat all of Tabby’s mince pies? And where has Branwell got to?
Actors from Woodlands Drama Group in Harrogate will be taking over the Parsonage at various times during the day, and performing short scenes in the period rooms of the museum.
“Christmas is a very special time to visit the Parsonage, with its festive atmosphere and decorations, and of course the famous Torchlight events which will be taking place in Haworth this weekend make it a great time for families to visit. It is exciting to be bringing the museum to life in this way, with pop-up performances occurring in various spaces throughout the day”. (Jenna Holmes, Arts Officer)
The event is free on admission to the museum and will take place throughout the day. Visitors to Haworth should look out for special ‘2 for the price of 1’ entry vouchers to the museum, which will be distributed to shops and cafes along the Haworth Main street.
